31.08.2008 - Classic & Sportcar meeting @ Vålerbanen

Yesterday me, my father and the sprog went to our local racetrack Vålerbanen to watch this years Classic & Sportcar meeting. Nice weather and lots of entries promised to be a good day of racing. We also met up with lots of old friends there, and made some new and interesting ones as well.

In the first heat, "up to 1150 ccm", swede Anders Jensen showed impressive speed in his beautyfully prepared 2-stroke SAAB.

There were also some vintage racers at place giving a good show on the track. Some of the drivers really gave the guts! These cars sound GREAT!! Below a 8 litre 6 cylinder Bentley.

There were also a large number of classic cars and sportscars at an exibition as well. Many great cars and some exotic ones as well.

We also met and had a chat with a couple of Scandinavian racing legends; Danish Erik Høyer and 83 year old Swede Erik Berger, still racing. In fact Erik Berger won his race outclassing the competition!! This gentleman is always in good mood and are impressive to watch on the track in his MK1 Ford Escort BDA. He had done a limited series of his 1969 Dalsland Ring winning car as a modelcar. This was limited to 250 pcs. and one is on my shelf at the moment. Also signed by Erik himself.
