            <title>Radio Controlled</title>
            <link>http://piblog.rallyesport.net/23653/</link>
            <description>After a friend winded me up I had to get me some new toys. I already have two nice Tamiya cars but they are both in need of a wee restoration. I decided to re-enter the hobby the cheapest possible way. I searched for cheap 4WD RTR cars. I choosed two cars from China-based HBX. First there is the Max Buggy which is a direct knock-off of the Tamiya TL-01B chassis. The second car I bought was the Surge Truggy XT. The cars arrived in the mail some days ago.
&amp;nbsp;
Out of the box....
...both cars seemed quite nice. The Max Buggy looked like a rugged buggy, although it's said the HBX knock-off is quite brittle compeared to the original Tamiya chassis. The radio felt &amp;quot;plasticy&amp;quot;...
&amp;nbsp;
&amp;nbsp;
Quite nice design on the body, although a bit &amp;quot;girly&amp;quot; colour...

&amp;nbsp;
&amp;nbsp;
Still clean and in one piece.
&amp;nbsp;
&amp;nbsp;
&amp;nbsp;
Heatsinked motor.

&amp;nbsp;
&amp;nbsp;
Adjustable tie rods.

&amp;nbsp;
&amp;nbsp;
The Surge Truggy XT also looked good out of the box, but here as well did the radio look like a plastic box. The Truggy has a different design and I was quite thrilled about testing it.
&amp;nbsp;
&amp;nbsp;
I don't really like the design of this body....

&amp;nbsp;
&amp;nbsp;
Lots of nicely coloured bits'n'bobs.

&amp;nbsp;
&amp;nbsp;
Heatsinked motor.

&amp;nbsp;
&amp;nbsp;
Lots of adjustments on the suspension.

&amp;nbsp;
&amp;nbsp;
Nice purple aluminium chassis.

&amp;nbsp;
&amp;nbsp;
&amp;nbsp;

            <title>Last trip for the Moss Magnum.</title>
            <link>http://piblog.rallyesport.net/23584/</link>
            <description>Well, summer cleanup on the estate led me to the remains of the green '75 Magnum 2300 I've had as a parts car. It has served me well with bits &amp;amp; bobs and I've kept many nice and useful parts from it. You never know when they come in handy.
&amp;nbsp;
&amp;nbsp;
Ready to deliver the shell at the local scrapper.
&amp;nbsp;

&amp;nbsp;
Going......
&amp;nbsp;

&amp;nbsp;
Gone! All controlled by the sprog.
&amp;nbsp;

            <title>Killing a Bedford</title>
            <link>http://piblog.rallyesport.net/19125/</link>
            <description>I finally found a donorcar in Bor&amp;aring;s, Sweden that had a high top roof. The car was ever so rotten so the only thing to do was to chop it to pieces on sight.
&amp;nbsp;

&amp;nbsp;
Tinworm nests everywhere:
&amp;nbsp;

&amp;nbsp;
Roof is ready cut. As I have a SWB car I need to shortend the rood. Therefore I cut it in two pieces to ease transportation. As I mentioned, the car was SO rotten that when we lifted off the rear part the sidewalls + innerwings just FELL OFF the car!!!!
&amp;nbsp;

&amp;nbsp;
This is what's left....
&amp;nbsp;

&amp;nbsp;
...and this is what I brought home. A roof + rear axle. I'm told that the axle ratio is higher on the vans than the chassicabs. Hopefully it is..else I have a spare. If anyone can confirm this I'd be happy to know.
&amp;nbsp;

            <title>Headlights</title>
            <link>http://piblog.rallyesport.net/19036/</link>
            <description>Some modifications are needed to get it registrated in Norway. Amongst fitting non-UK standard headlights.&amp;nbsp; I've found out that the headlights from SAAB 99 fits with minor mods. Accedently I noticed a SAAB 99 behind a customers workshop&amp;nbsp;one day&amp;nbsp;and I got the lights for free. THANX!
&amp;nbsp;
Before mods:
&amp;nbsp;

&amp;nbsp;
There's also some rust to remove....
I welded in a fresh bit&amp;nbsp; just on the end mount on the wing. The front is also modded so the SAAB lights will fit.

            <title>New modelcar</title>
            <link>http://piblog.rallyesport.net/19002/</link>
            <description>A new modelcar for my collection:
1/43 Vauxhall Firenza SL
Thoroughbred Models
1/350 pcs.
&amp;nbsp;

&amp;nbsp;

&amp;nbsp;
This model surprised me in quality as the pictures I've seen of this model it looks abit &amp;quot;out of shape&amp;quot;. The only thing I'll do with it is paint the grille black. Now I need to get the Magnum model...</description>

            <title>Classic &amp; Sportcar meeting @ Vålerbanen</title>
            <link>http://piblog.rallyesport.net/18878/</link>
            <description>Yesterday me, my father and the sprog went to our local racetrack V&amp;aring;lerbanen to watch this years Classic &amp;amp; Sportcar meeting. Nice weather and lots of entries promised to be a good day of racing. We also met up with lots of old friends there, and made some new and interesting ones as well.
&amp;nbsp;
In the first heat, &amp;quot;up to 1150 ccm&amp;quot;, swede Anders Jensen showed impressive speed in his beautyfully prepared 2-stroke SAAB.
&amp;nbsp;

&amp;nbsp;
There were also some vintage racers at place giving a good show on the track. Some of the drivers really gave the guts! These cars sound GREAT!! Below a 8 litre 6 cylinder Bentley.
&amp;nbsp;

&amp;nbsp;
There were also a large number of classic cars&amp;nbsp;and sportscars at an exibition as well. Many great cars and some exotic ones as well.
&amp;nbsp;

&amp;nbsp;
We also met and had a chat with a couple of Scandinavian racing legends; Danish Erik H&amp;oslash;yer and 83 year old Swede Erik Berger, still racing. In fact Erik Berger won his race outclassing the competition!! This gentleman is always in good mood and are impressive to watch on the track in his MK1 Ford Escort BDA. He had done a limited series of his 1969 Dalsland Ring winning car as a modelcar. This was limited to 250 pcs. and one is on my shelf at the moment. Also signed by Erik himself.

            <title>Norsk Vauxhall Klubb meeting</title>
            <link>http://piblog.rallyesport.net/18874/</link>
            <description>Last weekend we (me &amp;amp; sprog) attended Norsk Vauxhall Klubbs meeting at Utvika Camping located at Tyrifjorden south of H&amp;oslash;nefoss. We left home early Saturday morning and teamed up with Rune Maurud and his wife/girlfriend (???? sorry I didn't catch the &amp;quot;status&amp;quot;..) in a nice Velox at L&amp;oslash;ten. We drove together down to the campingresort&amp;nbsp;passing Gj&amp;oslash;vik - Jevnaker - Klekken - Sundvollen.
&amp;nbsp;

&amp;nbsp;
All the way the SL was running bad. Only at full choke it ran quite ok. I suspected wrong air/fuel mixture to be the problem as I'd changed all ignition parts before the trip. Finally at Utvika I asked around to see if anyone had a good tip for me to solve the problem. During the way down I'd checked every parts that could be the cause to the problems. John Olsen said it might be a chance it was the new coil that was tricking me. He had a used spare one I could lend. We changed it and that was the cure.
&amp;nbsp;
The rest of Saturday was spent on a roundtrip arond Tyrifjorden. We went up to Dronningens Utsikt (&amp;quot;Queens Wiew&amp;quot;) were there was an amazing wiew over the lake and the surrounding landscape. After arriving back at the camping in the evening the club had organized a big partytent and barbeques down on the beach. The sprog found some new friends and spent the afternoon at the playground with them. It was a very nice weekend getting together with new and old friends.
&amp;nbsp;
More pictures here: Utvika 2008&amp;nbsp;(thanks to Torgeir for all the nice photos!)

            <title>Tour of Madness 2008</title>
            <link>http://piblog.rallyesport.net/18653/</link>
            <description>For a year I've been collecting spares for my cars at a friends place in UK. Actually she lended me her shed!&amp;nbsp; She was to bring all the parts over to me this summer but due to illness plans had to be changed. I decided I'd go and collect the pile of parts myself. I did as I did last time I was over, buy a cheap but still halfdecent car that would bring me and the parts back home. Though the car had be be useful for a donorcar for more parts. I found a interesting car on eBay, a 1974 Vauxhall Viva SL that looked quite reasonable and it had MOT &amp;amp; tax.&amp;nbsp; The car was mine for &amp;pound;500. My friend Paul kindly helped me out and took the train to Keighley and collected it for me. So now the transportation home were sorted.
&amp;nbsp;
&amp;nbsp;A picture from the eBay auction:
&amp;nbsp;

&amp;nbsp;
I took a plane to Gatwick Airport and went by train up to Nuneaton where Paul picked me up at the station. As I arrived late we only got a couple of beers and went to bed. The following day I had to go to Huddersfield to collect a set of wheels for my Magnum. The SL ran quite nice but it seemed it had a slight pinking at 60 mph. (which I discovered after I arrived home came from vibrating noise from the gearstick! &amp;nbsp;)&amp;nbsp; After a nice drive north I took off the motorway and headed for Huddersfield. I took a few wrongs which turned out afterwards was lucky. Suddenly when trying to find the right way the alternator belt snapped. But when I was going the wrong way I had noticed a Subaru dealer just down the hill. I went there to see if they had something I could use for a belt, but of course they hadn't. They told me to go futher into Huddersfield where there was a small workshop that also sold spares. Luckily it was only downhill to the workshop. They had a belt for me and lended me tools so I could change it.
&amp;nbsp;
Finally&amp;nbsp; in Huddersfield I went around the town to try to find Mini-Spares where I was to collect the wheels. When going slowly around a roundabout a bus cut the corner too much and wingclipped me denting my left wing and ripping the front bumper off!! I didn't care much and after a short chat with the female busdriver I took off to Mini-Spares. I collected the wheels, and I also bought a set of retro Cobra bucket seats as well. Finally back at Pauls he so kindly commented the accident with the bus:
&amp;nbsp;

&amp;nbsp;
Then I got the idea that we shold try to make the dull looking and dented SL abit more attractive...&amp;nbsp; After a couple of hours of pimping + beers + lots of laughs the SL looked like this:
&amp;nbsp;
&amp;nbsp;
&amp;nbsp;
Unbelivable what a set of wheels can do with the look on a car!
&amp;nbsp;
On thursday morning me and Paul set off for Billing and the big VBOA meeting.&amp;nbsp; This was my first time here and I was looking forward to see the classic Vauxhall rally and race cars up close. Sadly the meeting crashed with Goodwood Festival of speed so I guess what I wanted to see were all there... &amp;nbsp; Anyway, there were plenty of nice cars to see.&amp;nbsp; For us, especially me, the meeting was a good chance to socialize with old and new friends, putting faces to nicknames from forums, and of couse doing one or two good finds at the autojumble. I left the site early Sunday morning as I had to reach the ferry from Newcastle back home.
&amp;nbsp;
Finally in Stavanger, Norway&amp;nbsp;again I started on the longest pass home. All across Norway over the mountains. I chose not to go the main road along the southern coast, but instead I drove off at &amp;Aring;lg&amp;aring;rd and headed for Valle in Setesdal. After a quick lunchstop at Byrkjedal the climb up the mountains started.
&amp;nbsp;

&amp;nbsp;

&amp;nbsp;
The road across the mountain were narrow but very enjoyable. Had to look out for sheep in the road and mobile homes though...
&amp;nbsp;

&amp;nbsp;

&amp;nbsp;
There were also some small patches of snow left..
&amp;nbsp;

&amp;nbsp;
After reaching Valle, Dalen was the next place to pass. Steep downhill to Dalen, 10-12% sloping hills got the brakes tested. And up again on the other side of the valley, also a 10-12% steep climb got the cooling system tested. Hard work for a small 1256 ccm engine to pull an overloaded Viva up those hills. But it made it! Further I passed Morgedal, the so called &amp;quot;home of skiing&amp;quot;, Seljord and the Seljord lake, without seeing the sea monster. Then it was Notodden before stopping at a friends in Kongsberg for a chat and coffee. The rest was known roads through Oslo and back home in Elverum. The trip from Stavanger to Elverum took me 10 h.
&amp;nbsp;
All in all this &amp;quot;Tour of Madness&amp;quot;&amp;nbsp; brought me many new and nice memories and experiences. The road from &amp;Aring;lg&amp;aring;rd to Valle is highly recomended! Prehaps it will be another trip to UK next year..??
